Character Speech

Authors Note: I wrote this speech on the main character of the book Bud Not Buddy.

Bud is a young African American boy that is battling through his tough life. His mother passed away when he was little. Bud always remembered what his mama told him before she died. One thing he always remembered was, “Bud is your name and don’t you ever let anyone call you anything outside of that either.” His mom was a tough woman and he looked up to her and always did what she said.

Bud believes in everything that his mother told him. She always said one other thing to Bud, “No matter how bad things look to you, no matter how dark the night, when one door closes, don’t worry, because another door opens.” Bud seems like a kind and brave boy. He isn’t a bad person even though he is going through a lot. He impacts other characters because he has a good attitude about everything and even though his mother passed he still remembers what she always told him.
