Feelings about Mother to Son

Authors Note: This is a writing response that talks about what I thought about the poem "Mother to Son" By Langston Hughes.

In this writing piece there were many figurative language sentences that Langston Hughes used in his writing. For examples he says this, “Life for me ain't been no crystal stair.” I think that this is an example of a metaphor. This figurative language that he used meant that when this mother was telling this to her son, she wanted him to know that life isn’t easy and that there may be a bump in the road. Lastly I think that the tone the author was trying to tell the reader was serious and reassuring, because the way he wrote this made the mother sound like she wanted to make a point. I think that the mood felt like the mother was showing leadership and was taking charge of the situation.
